Day Trips

city.jpg (34068 bytes) Of course the first day trip destination for any traveller would be Perth and Fremantle. You can explore these beautiful cities by yourself or take an organised tour by tram, bus, boat or even a Harley Davidson. The best way to find out about all that is on offer,  visit  West Australian website on  http://www.westernaustralia.net/  Places like: Hillary's Boat Harbour and Underwater World, Bungee West, Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, Adventure World, Pioneer World, Kings Park, Burswood Casino, The Perth Mint etc should be on any travellers "not to be missed list"!   Apart from   Perth and Fremantle, we have tremendously enjoyed trips to:

The Swan Valley

About 45 km south east of Yanchep, this major winegrowing region offers beautiful scenery, delightful art and craft shops, eateries and a great number of wineries that invite you to taste their vintages.

Guilderton

About 30 Km north of Yanchep, where the Moore River runs into the Indian Ocean. A delightful spot where you can either swim in the ocean or the river. A very safe place for kids. A "must" is a  cruise with "Moore River Tours".  An Eco Cruise offers the opportunity to experience the significant Aboriginal history of the area  and wildlife along the pristine Moore River.

Lancelin

About 70 Km north of Yanchep. This is one of the premier windsurfing spots in the world. From November to March a very reliable Southwester creates perfect conditions for slalom racing or wave riding. Good material is available for hire on the beach. Another attraction of Lancelin is the sand desert where sand boarders or 4WD enthusiasts find ideal conditions to do what they like best.

The Pinnacles

About 150 kms north of Yanchep (as the crow flies). One of the West Australian Tourism Icons. This bizarre  landscape of limestone formations  truly is a highlight. The ideal way to get to the Pinnacles is on board of a 4WD vehicle (Pick-up at the Village, by prior arrangement).  The traveller will see unique West Australian Fauna and Flora. Along the way through the valley of the grass trees, see what is believed to be the oldest living plant in Australia: A huge 3500 year old grass tree (black boy). (Xanthorrhoea preissii) Also explore some stunning coastal scenery and deserted beaches far away from the beaten track.

New Norcia

About 130 km north east of Yanchep.  This Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 1846, is a unique blend of Spanish architecture, European art treasures and pioneer history. Nestled in a picturesque valley in the heart of the West Australian bush,  New Norcia is like a piece of old Spain. 27 historical buildings,  a unique collection of of religious artworks and artefacts, paintings of Spanish and Italian masters tell the history of New Norcia's time as an aboriginal mission, as a centre of the monk's extensive farming activities and as a place of education and culture. In 1993 New Norcia Bakeries was granted permission to use the original wood-fired oven at the monastery (installed in 1886) to produce authentic artisan breads with a characteristic chewy, golden crust and a slightly smoky, toasted wheat flavour.

York and Toodyay

About 150 kms east south east of Yanchep. Relive the early settlement of Western Australia in these charming country towns.   Have you ever jumped out of an airplane? If not, try a tandem parachute jump with the Sky Dive Express in York. This is surely an adventure you will never forget, at least I haven't.
